Bootblacks - Veins

Since the group’s founding in 2010, Brooklyn-based Bootblacks’ sound has been described as a balance of contradictions: both pensive and buoyant, referential and modern. Fitting, as the Bootblacks name is derived from novelist William Burroughs’ description of the dark underbelly of glitzy New York City.

Vocalist and frontman Panther MacDonald lists an eclectic set of influences: Depeche Mode, New Order, Simple Minds, Echo and the Bunnymen, Joy Division, early U2, as well as the Beatles and David Bowie for lyrical inspiration.

Bootblacks released their first EP, Narrowed, in the fall of 2012, recorded with Brian Scott Herman, after previously collaborating with Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds). Songwriters MacDonald and Gorman describe the collaboration with Sclavunos as a “life-changing” one that informs Bootblacks’ music to this day.

Panther describes Veins, the newly-completed Bootblacks album, as the most recent step in the band’s evolution from punk to post-punk. Fans can expect a more textured, atmospheric and “bigger-sounding” Bootblacks than before.

Who Ha - Synthwave Belongs In A Museum

After a successful very-long string of singles, remixes, and one offs, Who Ha’s first solo release is a work of movie sample magic, sunburnt synths, and nostalgia overload. This 6 track EP is a VHS tale of Archaeology that takes you from the sunset drenched Canyon of the Crescent Moon through the harsh midnight desert; down in the icy cold depths of Antarctica and back around again to the 8-bit afterschool adventures from your yesteryears that never seem to fade away…

The Analog Session - Featuring Alexander Robotnick & Ludus Pinsky

Medical Records presents the first in a series of 12″ singles on the Transfusions sublabel. In Feb 2009, icon Alexander Robotnick (Maurizio Dami) and Ludus Pinsky (Lapo Lombardi) gathered in a room completely engulfed with vintage analog and modular synthesizers (many DIY). What resulted is an absolute brilliant session of pure unadulterated warm techno. Robotnick and Pinsky have deep musical backgrounds in dance music ranging from Italo disco, house, electro-disco, and much more. The project eventually became an album and a live performance.

Featured here are the unique original soundtracks from the videos of these tracks which combined have amassed almost 500,000 views along with a remix of each track featured on this special 12”. The original soundtracks to the popular vidoes have never been released on vinyl. Contains over 30 minutes of pure techno perfection with a look towards the future yet performed on the tools from the past. Mastered by Martin Bowes at the Cage Studios, UK.
