After their acclaimed debut with “Glam Is Gone”, Venin Carmin releases her second album “Constant Depression”. This album is again full of catchy tunes. Sometimes light-footed, sometimes razor-sharp. France’s most extroverted post-punk / coldwave band is not a world improver. Situations are perceived from a distance, but the interpretation ensures that it all becomes very personal in the end. Many listeners will recognize themselves in the songs while dancing to the music.
The term ‘cruelty’ is so limiting according to our cultural expectations of it, an act may give perceived ‘good’ to the perpetrator and ‘bad’ to the victim. It may give good in the long run and bad in the short run or vice versa. The unifying factor to all forms of cruelty is GHOULIA.
With its infectious bass and poignant synth lines, interwoven with themes around the complexity of modern day living in an often impersonal world, Crystalline Stricture’s pure analogue sound is beautifully constructed and played from the heart.
Early 2020, while the Covid-19 crisis was taking over the world, I-Robots was introduced to Electronic Emergencies. Calling it a magical parallel world, I-Robots immediately fell in love with the retro electro and disco noir feel of the label from Rotterdam. It was a nice surprise to discover that the guys of Electronic Emergencies have been fans of I-Robots since the early days. In addition, I-Robots will remix/re-edit/rework 6 of these tracks. ‘I-Robots does Electronic Emergencies’ will be released as a limited edition 12″ on vinyl and digitally on Electronic Emergencies in early 2021.
