EYE is back. Metamujer marks the third installment on the Knekelhuis label and we’re extremely happy to release this document of another chapter in Laurène Exposito’s life. Recorded on various locations ranging from the Swiss mountains to the chalky coasts of Brittany, Metamujer is an 8-track ode to salty love and closeness to nature, a tribute to a modest lifestyle à la Henry David Thoreau. Far from being praise for self-sufficiency, this new LP is deeply influenced by Laurène’s environment. We can hear Korg MS-10 created synthetic waves (Sanatorium) and birds (Luscinia), but one can also catch her singing in Italian, one of 3 languages spoken in her native Switzerland. Still minimalist and yet more aesthetically diverse, her new sounds are on the edge of EBM and synth pop, between classic minimal wave tunes and rustic ballads on acid.
Autumns returns to DKA with a second cassette called “Foyle Living”. Hot on the heels of the full length “Shortly after Nothing” released on Death and Leisure. This tape showcases the more experimental side of Autumns. Eight songs culled from recording and practice sessions that combine the aesthetics of early Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle pulse with a dissonant energy. Autumns draws from a negative almost nihilistic approach to music. The hard EBM and Techno he produces pummels the audience while filling the dance floor. Over the punchy kick drums and minimal basslines, Christian’s voice flows through distortion and echo without restraint. To see Autumns, live is akin to witnessing an electronic equivalent to a Birthday Party show in the 80s. Like a young Nick Cave, Autumns end goal is a state in which the artist and audience gives into animal abandon.
Nuovo Testamento is a new half-American half-Italian trio featuring members from Horror Vacui, Sheer Mag, Tørsö, Terremoto and Crimson Scarlet. With such references you wouldn’t expect this to be any less good than it actually is. Exposure is their very first recording and its 6 songs perfectly blend coldwave bass lines, minimal electro beats, synthpop melodies, ethereal female vocals. That’s why we decided to give this its well-deserved vinyl run after the first band-released tape limited edition.
The last compilation that counts on the participation of South American acts and guests from Europe and North America, seems the end of a sequel of varied of the current scene synthwave minimal, electronics, synthpunk, minimal wave and cold electronics of our continent. We fulfilled our mission in 3 years, a compilation for year, we hope that the bands have become more known each time and we thank all those who have trusted us. |
