Violent Quand On Aime

Coming from different regions in France, Violent Quand On Aime’s members have joined forces to canalize their energies into something truly essential. Far away from hype and expectation they have created their own peculiar world. Expect a certain electronic griminess with hints of 90’s hiphop, postpunk alienation and an affinity for Musique Concrète. The overall experience is similar to the excitement one feels when hearing something genuinely original. This mini-album is the follow-up to their very impressive 7” on Le Syndicat Des Scorpions.

DEAD - Voices

What more can you say about a band called DEAD that hasn’t already been made abundantly clear at first glance? The fact that these French mercenaries of noise can conjure up such a powerfully dark aesthetic before even hitting a note is impressive, but when they finally do, they unleash a far more potent beast entirely. If DEAD aren’t already mapping out the future destruction of the planet, they’ve sure as hell written the soundtrack.

Bleak, confrontational, but with a firm command of rhythm and deep grooves, this might be the dancefloor antidote we’ve been waiting for. (Electric Company UK)

Lowfish - Hypersensitivity

Lowfish is back! The electro veteran, who’s been programming 808s since the early ‘90s, returns to Suction Records, the label he co-founded and debuted on in 1997, for his first release since 2011. This is suction046 – the “Hypersensitivity” EP. It’s been a while, but as the sprinkling of Lowfish compilation appearances – on labels like Analogical Force and Fundamental Records – over the intervening years have shown, Lowfish isn’t interested in radical changes; it’s all about quality and consistency. Flawlessly produced 808 drums, meticulously processed for maximum slam, combine with Lowfish’s trademark synthesizer melodies and heavily-manipulated dialogue samples… best heard on standout cuts “Apr294ms” – a melodic techno/electro dancefloor killer – and “Favourable Reports” – a slice of 808 synthpop with melodic nods to vintage OMD and Gary Numan.

SDH - Semiotics Department Of Heteronyms

SDH (Semiotics Department of Heteronyms) is the new project of two key figures of the synth-wave/industrial scene of Barcelona. Andrea P. Latorre and Sergi Algiz, founders of the Cønjuntø Vacíø label and also in the post-punk band Wind Atlas, unveil a new act more oriented towards pop music.

SDH is change, alteration, distortion, metamorphosis.
Their synth-pop songs, sprinkled with EBM and techno, are mysterious, obtuse and suggestive.
The project seems to revolve around the idea of fiction.
What is the language of feigned personalities? What is fiction? An individual is one and another, is liquid. It is physical.
Incarnating someone is doing it in a corporeal way: making it flesh. Conceive: everything is real: reality does not exist. How is a fiction embodied?
With only two songs published, they have already supported artists such as Marie Davidson and Merchandise and performed at the Swedish festival Kalabalik På Tyrolen, one of the reference festivals of the darkwave scene.
