The debut from PERMANENT, the solo project of Durham, NC based musician Mimi Luse. While some may be familiar with her work as the bassist and vocalist for the post punk band Cochonne, here she handles everything (with the exception of a collaboration track with Yung Target). With nods to the early days of industrial music in the minimalist, distorted drum machines and an experimental/DIY approach to production, PERMANENT takes her influences and molds them into a sound all her own, equally at home in your headphones on a dark night as it is on the weirder dancefloors of the world.
8 tracks from the 20-year history of Cawatana, in brand new versions, re-created with the new equipment of the band. Dark folk acoustic guitars merge with darkwave/postpunk/minimal wave sounds of analogue synths and drum machines, forming a bridge between acoustic and electronic, highlighting the best of both worlds. Somewhere between minimal synth, electro and wave is the irresistible sound of Raderkraft, aka musician /producer Willem Stinissen from Amsterdam. As cold as it is catchy and hypnotic, armed with pulsating analog synths, staccato drum computer beats and sampled vocals, Raderkraft takes you into a dystopian past, present and future on his third 4-track EP called “Dust & Debris” by treating global world problems such as: the devastating impact of drug addictions; the futureexistence of our planet due to climate change; the global widespread destruction by nuclear war; and the fear for terrorist attacks. The title track “Dust and Debris” describes the 9/11 catastrophe and contains a chronological frightening news report from several media sources telling us what happened that day exactly 20 years ago. With this EBM style track Raderkraft perfectly catches the incomprehension and fear that shocked the world that day. |
