Lostsoundbytes - Degenerate Brain

It’s about time that our partner in crime Lostsoundbytes joined us for a ride. Kept on the back burner for a while, the debut album by the Belgium-based producer and Vastechoses label honcho couldn’t have come out at a more convenient time. Keeping with the madness that we all have buried within ourselves, Degenerate Brain sounds like it’s been recorded and corrupted by some artificial intelligence in the grips of mental disorder and paranoia. Frantically exhibiting a wide stylistic palette by means of irradiated kicks laid out on top of distressed electronic modulations; worn out electro bangers and slo-mo keepsakes from imaginary performances to crooked minimal wave ramblings led by a man-machine flying off the handle. A seemingly meaningless stroll orchestrated by a mind that has lost control over some data dump coming in hot — which may fry your brain unless you manage to pull yourself out before it’s too late.

Mynationshit - The Tycoon

Here comes the fourth release by Almería-based electronica artist Mynationshit titled ‘The Tycoon’. This is another addition to the independent label ‘Waste Editions’, run by Mynationshit’s frontman Carlos Martín along with his brother Ale.

This record highlights Martin’s latest musical touches. Its melancholic undertones juxtaposed with humble romanticism will inspire you. Indubitably, this Spanish artist’s distinguishable nature mixes elements of Electro, Dark Wave, Synth-Pop and Post-Punk.

Picture Johnny Cash and Peter Murphy singing catchy tunes to each other while on a cosmic journey to an unknown planet where synths and prose accompany their melodies.

Spill Gold - Highway Hypnosis

The summer breeze has gradually turned into a cold wind and the trees showcase their typical variegated color palette; autumn has clearly arrived in all its golden glory, a transition exemplary for Spill Gold’s work. The Amsterdam duo’s music is every bit as colorful and moving as its seasonal counterpart, where one moment a cold and stormy wind swarms the air and other times calm and stillness prevail.

On Highway Hypnosis, their first album on vinyl, Spill Gold masterfully juxtaposes darkness and light, playfulness and control, enhancing the transcendental character of the material at hand. Based on strong pop structures, the songwriting here traverses a world of Krautrock and cosmic influences at once catchy and alienating, opening the possibility for catharsis.

They’re a wonderful addition to the versatile nature of Knekelhuis. And they’re crazy good live as well.

Ludgate Squatter - Forget About Me

UK-based newcomer Aden Melvin alias Ludgate Squatter enlists on Unknown Precept following a handful of releases laid-out over the past couple of years under various monikers. Written and recorded in the wake of existential dread, Forget About Me renders audible the self loathing, the denial and intrusive thoughts of our turbulent times in the most demented and paranoid fashion. Born from the ashes of his overworked circuits and shattered nerves, the Manchester native dispatches a haunting atmosphere brimming in acid bass lines and swollen beats like there is no tomorrow.

A story of alienation and estrangement piercing together bits of harsh, ominous mutant electronics with a strong nod to the British rave culture. Pulling energy from his top genre influences at the time; mainly gabber, deathcore and punk, reformed into slow distorted hardware jams filled with anger and angst from which you cannot escape.
