After their critically acclaimed first LP “Endless Party” released on Wool-E-Tapes (cassette) and Minimal Maximal (vinyl), Whispering Sons is returning with a two-track EP that sees the quintet keeping digging in an already very distinctive sound and vibe of their own that make them so recognizable and exclusive. Fenne Kuppens stark and warm vocals and lyrics are giving the finest polish to the bands’ cold sonic darkness. The two songs are giving a very strong idea of what the quintet is the best at, taking us into a wide range of emotions that won’t leave us heartless. While “Performance” has this quite lyrical and impetuous swirl, “Strange Identities” sounds and evolves in a more obscure and modest place.
Raderkraft impresses with a powerful analogue sound floating somewhere in between electro, new beat and wave on his debut EP. Raderkraft is a project by Willem Stinissen (1980) from Amsterdam the Netherlands. His music is best described as electro minimal synthwave. His love for this genre started as an implication of his punkrock background. Simplicity, minimalism, purity and D.I.Y. mentality are the aspects of wave music he loves the most.
Antlers Mulm has been sending his melancholy songs and soundscapes into the world for many years now… some years ago one song was featured on the “Radio Resistencia” compilation (ET001) and finally there is this 7 inch on Enfant Terrible… the two tracks are coming from the last album “Touring The Moon Bog” which was released on cd and tape earlier this year… both tunes featured on vinyl here are the most up-tempo and rhythm driven ones from that album… recommended to fans of Solitude FX but also those who are into New Order… it is all melancholy, dreamy and catchy… what else could you wish for?
TWINS is Matt Weiner who is also known for his Featureless Ghost project and of course as the head of the DKA Records label… his project TWINS is not limited to one specific style but the dominant characteristic is the synth driven sound… other influences in the mix are various styles of dance music and a healthy dose of arty post-punk… this new mini album “Rather Not” is the perfect blending of all of this… due to this it is on the one hand a classic minimal elektro record but at the same time a rather modern piece of electronic music… catchy tunes and surprising twists go hand in hand and make up for an authentic and original record… which is more stunning every time you play it! |
