After releasing three songs on YouTube, the Antwerp-based post-punk band Rehash has teamed up with Mangel to launch their first release, ‘Aktion Reaktion!’, on vinyl and tape. Their stripped-down German lyrics, more slogans than poetry, provide a rebellious soundtrack not only for Antwerp’s youth. Longtime music activists Rawmance and Asymmetrical from Rome have joined forces to create new music under the name ‘La Nuit Je Mens’. Their debut work, titled ‘Les Nuits Magnétiques’, features two of their songs on a hand-stamped 7″ vinyl. Utilizing a bass guitar, analog synthesizers and vintage drum machines, their music is infused with French vocals, lending it a cinematic touch and a sense of depth. While strongly inspired by the sound of the 80s, this record establishes its own unique identity, offering something new and refreshing.
FLO 926 is the brainchild of Jorge Cardiel, carefully blending wyrd wave and dark folk. The album Omnia Vertuntur is a compilation of tracks crafted between 2017 and 2024, featuring a configuration of acoustic guitar, samples, and synthesizers. The songs delve into themes inspired by medieval imagery, philosophy, modern poetry, and occultism. Musically, FLO 926 weaves together the haunting, ethereal qualities of wyrd wave with the earthy, introspective tones of dark folk. The acoustic guitar provides a grounding, organic element, while the synthesizers and samples add layers of depth and complexity. The melodies often evoke a sense of mysticism intertwined with modern experimental sounds. The tracks Constructing Time, Talisman and Disolución showcase the vocal talent of Anna Utopian, whose lyrics contribute to the conceptual and spiritual work. Additionally, Equinoxious adds synthesizer work on Constructing Time, further enhancing the synthscape of the album. |
