The 4th full-length studio album by Robert Alfons aka TR/ST (fka Trust), ‘Performance’, sinks even further into the nasty synth-pop psychodrama that the project has pioneered and, finally, perfected across over a decade of evolution. Recorded in Los Angeles, the songs seethe with dread, lust, reckoning, and abandon, backlit by the light pollution of a thousand dead end city streets. Alfons co-produced the collection with versatile composer and producer Nightfeelings, achieving a thick, smoky balance of eerie synths, fog machine low end, and bruised, crooning voice.

IM NAMEN DES VOLKES – a nexus of analog synthesizer craftsmanship. Matthias Schuster’s venture into the world of music began in the late 1970s, marked by an insatiable curiosity for analog instrumentation. His early fascination with vintage synthesizers and drum machines laid the groundwork for a lifelong commitment to creating unique sonic landscapes. The EP ‘LOCH IM SYSTEM’ features four tracks characterized by the raw and pure synthesizer sound of the early 80ies. Electro with an early industrial feel, in an uncompromising and very direct way, constitutes the distinctive musical aesthetic of IM NAMEN DES VOLKES. Soft Scent is a band from Marche, Italy, founded in Summer 2023. Their music is influenced by post-punk and darkwave. [Discogs] Violet Hour Transmissions is deeply honored to present VHT18: “A Sad Thought Made Dance” by Attic Frost (Bremen, Germany). ❄️ ⚔️ The album opens with somber, reverb-drenched bass and guitar whose melancholia is subtly reinforced by thoughtful electronic drum beats. These opening notes mutate into a wall of cold sound that teleports me to another time: tastes of New Order, a dash of Clan of Xymox, a hefty helping of The Cure. When the musical river calms and settles expansively between its banks, it is joined by the vocal tributary; deep, powerful, and as reverb-soaked as the rest. It is hard to put my finger on exactly what Attic Frost reminds me of, but it is an effective combination of elements that is very much coldwave executed flawlessly. |
