Since the beginning of Freedom Club it was imagined to add vinyls to the output. The “Refusal EP” is the first of these vinyls. It features tracks by all six artists who are responsible for the first six EP’s already released.

This EP is very much what Freedom Club is about: uncompromised dark beats and rough electronic sounds. Not defined to one specific style or genre but coherent in mood and esthetics: vague, raw, unpolished and dark.

Auva Duhr, Monocorpse, The Wheel Of Rituals, The Untitled, Nihilist Sounds and ЯTRA all go for a full on attack mode. Some stay 100% true to their trademark sound while others explore and incorporate new dimensions and even push the limits of what you could expect from them. There is a lot of acid in the mix here and lots of industrial sounds are poured over you. When speeding up there is no surrender to the beat while when slowing down it only gets darker and colder.

The “Refusal EP” must be considered a manifesto of Freedom Club.

Freedom Club: Monocorpse – Manifestation

Monocorpse - Manifestation

Monocorpse is known for his thematically loaded EP’s. This new one, entitled “Manifestation EP” is not different from that. Having covered amongst others Haitian Vodou and The Manson Family murders as themes we now enter the world of serial killers and the places their (occult motivated) murders took place. So, yes thematically this is a typical Monocorpse record.

If you are familiar with the music by Monocorpse there will be no real surprises either. His signature sound is here with minimalistic tracks built around a pounding rhythm and eerie sounds. Maybe the tracks featured on this “Manifestation EP” are a bit more energetic and forward moving which makes them probably among the most dance floor friendly Monocorpse did so far.

Even more clearly aiming for the dance floor is the Auva Duhr remix of an older Monocorpse track featured as part of this EP. The remix is quite industrial sounding electro fitting in the tradition of Ultradyne. And, then there is the hypnotic laid back remix by Ye Gods to finish it off and leave you in peace/pieces and/or wanting for more.

The Wheel Of Rituals - Immanent

The Wheel of Rituals is an alias of Roberto Auser, veteran Dutch electro / electronic music producer, and his darkest sounding project. This is only the third release in five years time. With a vinyl on Viewlexx and a tape on Cefalù Tourist Information (a label run by Monocorpse) it seems the only proper way to continue the journey with this CD EP.

Music-wise the “Immanent EP” is a minimal electronics effort in the purest sense of the definition: a perfect mix of old school elektro sounds and early industrial moods. Some of these tracks will take you down a haunting road while some others are there for the dark club nights which dare to cover music to move to but avoid a typical pounding techno beat.

This EP is simply among the best Roberto Auser has produced up till now. No more words needed.
