Tetrapharmakon is the epicurean remedy for the pains and anguish of existence. Often confused with hedonism, epicureanism certainly also seeks to put an end to pain, but by taking a reasoned, more balanced path: pleasure in itself (hedonism) is indeed not what is desirable. What is, on the other hand, is a particular state of happiness which is ataraxia, that is to say the absence of disorders, or “eudemonism”. Exaltation of sincerity, it takes precedence over quality more than quantity. For example, love-passion, as a deregulation of the senses and reason, is contrary to ataraxia. Sincere and sensual friendship, on the other hand, is seen as conducive to the happiness of the individual.

This 4-title EP tries to describe these four remedies. The titles include (except for Остаје му само да броји) characters or philosophical concepts that come from the mythology and culture of ancient Greece.

Quand le poupon psychotique saisit son hochet, ça donne Vésanie : un désordre mental rythmé par un orgue neurasthénique. Une dégringolade sans limite où la syntaxe ne rougit pas d’être à poil, à plume ou à écaille. Entre déstructuration linguistique salvatrice et minimalisme musical tout aussi jouissif, Poupard nous balance un renvoi coloré où se mêlent un imaginaire débridé et des mots impudiques.

Acidité et fausse candeur : un duo complice et deux voix en échos. Disons le tout de go : Poupard c’est le rythme de nos vies déglinguées avec son lot d’espoirs hallucinés. C’est juste deux notes sur un piano… qui mine de rien, délient la camisole d’Artaud.

Another band from the East of France, hailing from Reims, LE FUTUR Facile are a duo who play, as they define it, a ‘Dark Wave sombre et vague’, twisted and dissonant in the same vain of some bands around Teenage Menopause and Le Turc Mecanique labels.

Using a minimal instrumentation based on drum machine, bass, guitar and a large use of synths, their intense and anxious, but also obsessive and paranoic sound is built with a dizzying array of hypnotic droning icy synths on one side and sleazy electro-post punk on the other, the sore, emaciated vocals further emphasizes a disturbing sense of loneliness, boredom, emptyness and desolation, slightly tempered by ironical lyrics.

The tense and mesmerizing, synth driven title track, “Amour”, where instead the word ‘violence’ is repeated multiple times, as well as being one of the most addictive, was also the most suited to receive the remix treatment by the fellow French electronic producer from Reims, GrAnD bOrDeL.

Bouncy bass-laden pulses lay the foundation, dark uproars of sound, hypnotic synth sequence, effected bouncing vocal samples, and stark drum patterns push and develop into an trance-inducing dark techno number filled with sweeping synths and propulsive, growing keys providing an understated and subtle epic quality, right for the most shadowy and sweaty of late night dance floors.
