Autumns - A Life Has No Glory

Arcane and macabre outset for Autumns’ side “A Life Has No Glory”; “Be Desire”s vocal is indeed creepy solemn and sets the mood very vividly.

It continues with 2 with crushingly glacial heavy tunes that captures the Irish artist in constant flux. Ruthless but always occult-oriented; twilight tracks that confirm Autumns’ great traits: eerie industrial visions, with heavily post-punk ascending. Signs his side with “Found It”, frantic incantations erupted by a fierce and inexorable snare; and the composition becomes even epic.

Autumns’ side, sets up a lugubrious environment, a boundless night that will not be long in assuming mystical connotations. A5, is the crowing glory, delivered by Exhausted Modern covering an injected electro remix of “Be Desire”, such a broadening of the stylistic palette of the Prague’s artist. It’s a deep melodic twist which leaving the sceptre of the Todtentanz-danse ritual, destined to unite in a total, almost metaphysical oxymoron.

Autumns - You Always Taught Me Better

Autumns is the solo project of Christian Donaghey, From Derry, Ireland, an outlet for electronic post-punk with a lethal pulse. After a brace of rough demos without preliminary hype, the project emerged fully formed on Karl O’Connor’s (aka Regis) illustrious label Downwards back in 2014, the youngest act in a new vanguard of artists that included the likes of Tropic of Cancer, DVA DAMAS and The KVB. Autumns – Foyle Living

Autumns returns to DKA with a second cassette called “Foyle Living”. Hot on the heels of the full length “Shortly after Nothing” released on Death and Leisure. This tape showcases the more experimental side of Autumns. Eight songs culled from recording and practice sessions that combine the aesthetics of early Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle pulse with a dissonant energy.

Autumns draws from a negative almost nihilistic approach to music. The hard EBM and Techno he produces pummels the audience while filling the dance floor. Over the punchy kick drums and minimal basslines, Christian’s voice flows through distortion and echo without restraint. To see Autumns, live is akin to witnessing an electronic equivalent to a Birthday Party show in the 80s. Like a young Nick Cave, Autumns end goal is a state in which the artist and audience gives into animal abandon.

Autumns - Alexithymia

Ireland’s own Autumns lands on DKA for a 9-track mini album, Alexithymia. Having put out a string of solid releases with the likes of Downwards, Clan Destine, and AMOK Tapes we are extremely proud to share what we think is the young artist’s best work yet. Prickly sharp basslines ride on top of driving rhythms while dark string synths fill in the space with an air of sensuality, the use of distorted, muffled vocals adding a distant yet urgent mood.

As the title suggests, this very much sounds like someone reaching deep to feel in-touch with the emotions they’ve grown so detached from, a powerful musical momentum meant to shake up your mood and make you feel something. There is a distinctly post- punk feel to Alexithymia that sets it apart from most other techno releases. Expertly contrasting angular melodies along with inviting textures and dub techniques. Autumns is able to evoke the style of eighties pioneers like Public Image Limited, Pop Group, and Josef K albeit in the vein of contemporary techno. Autumns would appeal to fans of Silent Servant, Broken English Club, AN-I, Regis, and DKA’s own Celldöd.
